Mindful Mondays: Freedom

A secret freedom opens through a crevice you can barely see. ~Rumi

Standing uncertain on the edge of something new. Walking in the wilderness of life, confused and not sure of the way. Rendered into stillness or shock in the aftermath of a loss, tragedy, disappointment, or accomplishment. Restless in the monotony and routine of what is and always has been--of what you’ve grown out of.

There is a pregnant pause within these moments of restlessness, newness, confusion, and shock.  Whether that pause is brief or long, if we listen deeply---we can hear the whisperings of our soul, calling us to greater freedom.

Safe to even feel unsafe, that is freedom.  ~Jeff Foster

While the walk towards freedom is exhilarating and unbridled, it can also be terrifying and uncomfortable.  The immensity and holiness of true freedom can be intimidating and overwhelming.  It is tempting to be seduced back into the clutches of security and the familiar, but freedom requires us to break the shackles of mediocrity and complacency for something greater, for something more true.  What is bound is limited in its growth and expression.

Where are you bound?  Where do you need to get free?

Embrace that discomfort within you and realize that it’s freedom calling you. Take a deep breath and claim it. Freedom is calling you to know your worth. Freedom is calling you to break free from limited thinking. Freedom is calling you to a fuller expression of you….a fuller expression of us.

"I said to the Lord, I'm going to hold steady on to you, and I know you will see me through."

~Harriet Tubman, Abolitionist and Freedom Fighter
